LG G PAD 10.1

The LG G Pad 10.1 is a rare beast – a new 10-inch Android tablet in an era dominated by 8-inchers. It houses a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chip, 16GB of storage, a microSD card slot for memory expansion, a 5-megapixel main camera, and an infrared blaster which allows you to use it as a universal remote control.

In the model, however, is a different set of innards as well as a different screen, with that 10.1 inch display showing off 1280×800 resolution and providing a pixel clarity of just under 150 pixels per inch, well below the 264 pixels per inch the iPad Air 2 relies on.

The LG G Pad 10.1 uses an 8000mAh battery, which is much bigger than the 6800mAh unit of its most obvious rival, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1.

While its performance doesn't match that of the more expensive competition, the slate's 1.2 GHz quad-core ARM CPU and 1GB of RAM help this slate fare well against similarly priced devices. The G Pad 10.1's best feature is its amazing battery life, making this one tablet you shouldn't overlook.

If you’re going for a large tablet, a 1080p display, or better, makes sense because the larger screen is optimal for watching videos. LG’s 10-inch device doesn’t deliver on that very important note. That said, it’s still a bargain for a 10-inch tablet at around $250. If you don’t mind a regular display, the G Pad 10.1 is an excellent deal for such a big tablet.
