ASUS has unveiled its new Transformer Pad Infinity, a top of the line Android tablet with a 10.1in 2560x1600 IPS screen. It's an upgrade to last year's TF700T model with the same name and also has the ability to output 4K content via a HDMI port.

The Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 is the Transformer Prime as it should have been. A Gandalf the White to the Prime's Saruman. Asus has clearly listened to the grievances -- most notably, GPS issues -- of some Prime owners, and in most cases addresses said grievances and then some.

The highlight of the hardware has to be the new display which adopts a 2560x1600 resolution at the same size as its predecessor, giving it a Retina display-savvy pixel density. It also makes it one of a select number of Android tabs at this resolution, along with the likes of the Google Nexus 10.

The Infinity includes 1GB of DDR3L memory and 64GB of eMMC flash memory, just as its predecessor did. It also has 802.11bgn wi-fi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 2MP front-facing camera and an 8MP rear facing camera. However, there have been some major improvements elsewhere.

It’s got the power to match. There’s a NVIDIA Tegra 3 4-Plus-1 Quad-core CPU @ 1.6Ghz with 12-core GPU, which are fancy words for saying “it’s fast”. The ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity plays back HD video without any problems, and there aren’t many games in the Google Play Store it can’t handle with ease.
