VIZIO TABLET

As an inexpensive alternative to the Apple iPad 2 from which it is inspired, the Vizio Tablet PC is sure to fulfill the expectations of the user on a budget. Two additional – and utterly unique – features are major selling points for Vizio beyond the great performance and quality screen.

In terms of the Vizio Tablet’s specs, the device was released with the Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread OS (a rare choice among tablet operating systems) but company representatives have reportedly promised a Honeycomb OS would be available for the Vizio Tablet in the future. No matter, the Gingerbread OS still delivers well enough in the Vizio, though playback of big, high-resolution video files is not perfect – a shame, as the 8” screen on the Vizio Tablet makes video look quite good.

Speaking of the touchscreen, the Vizio Tablet also loses a few points for below-average responsiveness. It’s certainly no disaster in this area but improvement could be made.

Getting onto the Vizio Tablet’s real pluses, though. First, the capacity to turn this device into a universal remote is amazing. Nearly every home entertainment device may be linked by way of a preset database, and the Vizio Tablet allows creation of profiles for multiple rooms. Also fantastic are the three embedded speakers in the Vizio Tablet, providing true stereo sound when the Vizio is flipped from landscape to portrait and vice versa.

For many users, the Vizio’s low price in combination with the above two features should be enough to win them over. The Vizio Tablet is highly recommended.
