Archos 80 Platinum

Meet the Archos Platinum series. Experiencing deja vu? That’s because the Platinum tablets are remarkably similar to the Archos Titanium tablets. With identical displays and near-identical designs, the big difference is that the Platinum slates rock quad core processors and have more RAM.

The smallest of the trio is the most basic in the Platinum range. The 8-inch Archos 80 Platinum sports all of the shared specs with a 1,024x768-pixel resolution that underwhelms when compared to the next biggest model, the 97 Platinum HD.

The 1024 x 768-pixel screen has one of the lowest resolutions we’ve seen on recent tablets. It looks grainy even compared with budget tablets like Tesco’s Hudl (which, ironically, is made by Archos), and its backlight is so weak that using it outside is quite tricky. And while no tablet is truly fingerprint-proof, the 80b Platinum seems collect more than most.

The Archos 80b Platinum Tablet isn`t all that bad really, the problem is that as many of its competitors do offer more for less, the thing I do like about this tablet is the build quality it’s a solid device and apart from the totally useless camera does everything required of it, this is more for a casual user who likes to just surf and message, and being an android tablet there are endless amounts of apps available.
