ASUS MeMo Pad HD 7

Beyond their keyboard dock accessories, Asus has become known as something of a specialist in budget tablets and the MemoPad 7 HD may be the class of the inexpensive lot – particularly in terms of display. That “HD” in the brand name indeed refers to “high-definition,” and the MemoPad 7 HD screen sure packs one colorful, brilliant picture.

The casing surrounding the backlit 1280 x 800-pixel display isn’t exactly exciting; the MemoPad 7 HD looks and feels like a generic version of an Amazon Kindle device, but that’s all due to the price. Brightening things up a bit is Asus’ range of colors available for the MemoPad 7 HD: blue, white, pink and lime green. And happily, corners were not cut in the area of specs.

Included as standard are 16 GB of internal storage, plus Micro SD card slot that can jack it up another 32 GB, plus two cameras (the rear camera at 5 MP) and micro USB port. The 1.2 GHz processor is a bit disappointing and “heavier” apps may run slowly – though the MemoPad 7 HD is mostly about video viewing, anyway.

At this price, we say, how can the would-be tablet owner go wrong? The Asus MemoPad 7 HD is a great best case scenario for first-time and younger users; they, along with anyone else, will adore that excellent display. You may enjoy the price tag.
