HP Slate 10 HD

The big brother to the Slate 7 HD tablet is the Slate 10 HD. There’s not much difference between the two of them except screen size. They even have the same resolution, which is more of a problem with this size screen. They have the same chip inside, same ports, and same T-Mobile deal for broadband versions.

At 630 grams and 259 (w) x 178 (d) x 9.7 (h) mm, the HP Slate 10 HD is in no way the thinnest or lightest full-sized tablet out there, but for a budget tablet it’s a decent size and weight. Yes, it may be a bit too heavy to hold above your face while reading in bed at night, but resting in your lap or at your desk its size and weight is fine.

In some respects the screen on the Slate 10 HD is a disappointment. We’re now seeing mid-range tablets with 1920 x 1080 screens, and after you’ve got used to a Retina display, the Nexus 10 and rivals, the Slate 10 HD’s 1280 x 800 effort looks a little crude.

The Slate 10 HD's weakest area is performance. It sports a dual-core Marvell PXA986 processor running at 1.2GHz, which is very slow compared to devices such as the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9in and the Nexus 7.

As a mid-end tablet, then it’s a must for tablet like HP Slate10 HD to have a rear-facing camera. The good thing is, HP Slate10 HD already comes with 5MP rear-facing camera that is able to take 1080p videos, which is quite impressive for this new comer tablet. On the front, there is also 2MP camera that lets you record 720p videos, not to mention, to do selfies and video calls.
