LENOVO THINKPAD 10

The Lenovo ThinkPad 10 Tablet ($729 as tested) is a compact 10-inch business slate tablet designed to fulfill the needs of users who want both a tablet and a Windows 8.1 Pro laptop. It's powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and has a full HD screen, but is otherwise basic, with just 2GB of memory and a 64GB solid-state drive (SSD) for storage.

At 10.1 x 7 x 0.35 inches and 1.3 pounds, the ThinkPad 10 is significantly thinner and lighter than slightly larger competitors like the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 (10.81 x 6.81 x 0.53 inches, 2 pounds) and the Dell Venue 11 Pro (11 x 6.95 x 0.6 inches, 1.6 pounds).

The display is the heart of any tablet, and the 10-inch one here is a real system highlight. The IPS panel looks great even from wide viewing angles, and the 1,900x1,200 resolution gives it premium point-of-differentiation from other similar products.

Lenovo chose to stick with the Atom-class processors in the ThinkPad 10, but they're taking advantage of the fact that the Z3795 is 64-bit capable. Even though our review unit has only 2GB of RAM, there is the option to upgrade to 4GB with 64-bit Windows. You can purchase models with either 64- or 128GB of storage.

The ThinkPad 10 is a very capable Windows tablet in the right circumstances, but the combination of a relatively high price with poor battery life limits its appeal to a small audience.
