Alcatel POP 8

The Alcatel OneTouch Pop 8 is an affordable 8-inch tablet with modest but not dirt cheap specifications. It’s aimed at budget buyers looking for a tablet with the option for mobile data connectivity

The Pop 8 is a bit more impressive. It features an IPS screen with a 1,280x800 resolution and delivers appropriate wide viewing angles. It has a 1.3GHz quad-core CPU, 2-megapixel camera on the back and VGA camera on the front. It weighs 0.71 pounds and with a 0.31 inch profile is actually thinner than its 7-inch brother. The Pop 8's bezels are impressively thin, and it has the same smooth plastic finish as the Pop 7.

It weighs slightly more than the Pop 7, but it’s thinner and so has a much more sleek design.

Alcatel sticks to the Android JellyBean 4.2.2 for Pop 8’s operating environment and there are no signs of a KitKat or Lollipop update in the future considering its hardware. It comes with 4100mAH battery with a rated uptime of 8 hours on standard usage.

With its 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1 GB of RAM, the Pop 8 isn't in the running for the fastest tablet. Still, reviewers had no problems running basic tasks or casual games with minimal stutters.
