Essentially a big brother of the Iconia Tab A200, the A510 tablet bears the hallmarks of Acer’s best standard features plus a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor that keeps this device among the faster in their range and is simply the zippiest CPU the company has employed to date.

Despite its slightly hefty weight (at nearly 1.5 pounds, it outweighs the Apple iPad), the Iconia Tab A510 tablet is made easy enough to hold thanks to a rubberized back. In terms of looks, the A510 is not so interesting, though the silver-colored plating on the edges is a nice accent.

The spec list reveals features one would expect in a proper 10” tablet, including Micro-HDMI port, Micro-USB port and micro SD card slot for up to 32 GB to double the internal storage. Front and rear cameras are 1MP and 5MP, respectively, meaning that the former is no great shakes against other like tablets. Also included are WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 support, gyroscope and GPS.

Perhaps most comparable to the Asus line of tablets, Acer’s Iconia Tab A510 may be considered in most factors – price, CPU speed, specs – with that competitor. (After all, Acer was the first company not named Asus to employ the Nvidia Tegra quad-core.) So here goes the checklist: in price, Acer beats the TF300; in speed, the edge to Asus; and in specs, it’s a draw.
