Dell Venue 11 Pro

Dell's competitor to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 — the Dell Venue 11 Pro — has just received an upgrade with the company's new 7000 series. While other tablets are racing to be the thinnest or lightest, Dell's newest version of its 10.8-inch tablet is aimed at conquering others with size, speed, and options.

The Dell Venue 11 pro 7140 has the same 10.8-inch IPS screen with a Full HD, 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution as its predecessor. The main difference is that this time around, Dell’s upped the brightness to 400 nits. Hopefully that small change will make the screen brighter on the new model — the first 7000 series Venue 11 Pro’s screen was slightly dim.

We were impressed with the original, Atom-powered Dell Venue 11 Pro, because of the Windows tablet’s long battery life, sturdy chassis and vibrant 1080p screen. However, the expensive, Core i5-powered model underwhelmed with weak endurance and a bulky body. Announced today, the new Venue Pro 11 7000 (7140) promises a better balance between performance and portability, incorporating Intel’s new low-power, high-speed Core M processor while offering a spate of new productivity-centric accessories.

The Dell Venue 11 Pro is aimed at businesses, and that means it is a far more versatile tablet than most of its competitors. It has a removable battery, a host of accessories and numerous configuration options, plus it’s available at a number of prices.

The Dell squares up to the Surface Pro with great versatility, better accessories and a stunning screen, and it's just as good value when bought with its best peripherals. The Surface Pro might be a bit faster, but the Venue has enough power to get the job done – if you need a tablet for work, you won't be disappointed with this.
