Acer Iconia W700

The Acer Iconia W7 comes packed with a lot of goodies, not least of which is the powerful hardware packed inside the tablet’s body. We get a stand which expands the USB 3.0 port from just one on the body to three on the side. Furthermore you also get a separate Bluetooth keyboard which, unfortunately, doesn’t have the aluminum finish of the W7 tablet, but a complete plastic body.

The best part of the tablet has to be its screen. At 11.6 inches, it's large, and with a resolution of 1920x1080, it's perfect for viewing photos and Full HD movies; there is also plenty of space to arrange windows side by side on the Desktop. It's a high quality screen, too, with rich colours, lots of brightness, and wide viewing angles.

The Acer Iconia W700 has a USB 3.0 port, micro HDMI and a 3.5mm audio jack plus good stereo speakers with Dolby Home Theater 4.0 audio. It weighs 2. 1 pounds and is 0.47" thick. Though Windows 8 touch screen convertibles and tablets with Intel Core CPUs haven't had the best battery life, the Acer manages to impress us with 6.5 to 7 hours of battery life with brightness at 50% and WiFi on.

In tablet mode, the W700 works as expected. Navigating through the Modern UI is smooth and responsive, and content looks nice on the HD IPS screen. The .5-inch, 2.1 pound aluminum body feels good in the hands, albeit slightly heavy, and the device gets warm during use, but never uncomfortably so.

The real surprise is the price: for just £593, the Iconia W700 packs in an 11.6in Full HD touchscreen, a Core i3 processor and somehow finds room in the budget for a case, a docking station and a Bluetooth keyboard.
