With the March 2012 release of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Samsung has made marginal improvements over its solid Galaxy Tab 10.1 model, but the improvements are slight at best.

The 10” Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 specs look impressive – in the original Galaxy tablet PC. In 2012, against the New iPad and ASUS Transformer Prime, seem a little ho-hum. While the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is installed in the latest Galaxy Tab, there are really no notable improvements.

See if this sounds familiar: Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 specs include a 1GHz dual-core processor; 1,280 x 800px display; the Samsung TouchWiz user interface; micro SD card port; Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity; and 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. Samsung even downgraded the camera technology in this Galaxy Tab a bit, teaming the 3MP rear camera with a VGA camera – this replaces the 2MP device in the original Galaxy tablets.

On the plus side are Samsung’s old reliables, namely in delivering superior video quality. Though improvement, such as Apple’s tweaks to the New iPad, to resolution might have been interesting, the nicely responsive Galaxy Tab 2 touchscreen still delivers a picture that’s among the best in the business.

The dimensions of 10.1” x 6.9” x 0.4” (25.66cm x 17.53cm x 0.97cm) and weight of under 1.3 lbs (0.588 kg) remain respectable against the high-end competition. The Galaxy 2 10.1 is solid, but not at all bulky.

In considering the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, the first question might be "Is this really a true new product in tablet PCs?" For first-time tablet owners, this could be a great solution, but those seeking innovation should look elsewhere.

To protect and carry the device made-to-fit Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 cases would work best. Additionally a variety of 10” tablet cases would provide a good alternative.
