Aishuo A815

Perhaps the best news about the Aishuo A815 is that this tablet is actually available in four different models, with some specs and hardware varying. At the low end of the price scale is the Starter Edition, a budget tablet with the same Android 2.3 operating system and 8” 800x600 pixel screen, but with accessories and apps stripped down.

The Capacitive Edition is the flagship model within the Aishuo A815 model range, with its capacitive touchscreen, as opposed to the Starter and the Resistive Edition. The screen quality is truly outstanding in responsive and look; many with experience in these devices would argue vehemently that the touchscreen is well worth the difference in price.

A key division between the Aishuo A815 Capacitive and the Starter is in the specs. While both offer the ARM Cortex A8 microprocessor and 512 MB RAM, the Capacitive Edition includes 4 GB of internal storage, with upgrades of up to 32 GB possible with Micro SD card; the Starter only supplies 1 GB with 16 GB the maximum with Micro SD. WiFi and 3G connections are offered in all Aishuo models, but the 1.3 megapixel video camera (decent enough for phone calls) is not included in the Starter Edition. Battery time on all models is an OK six hours of full use.

Finally, the White Edition of the Aishuo A815 is just that: The Capacitive Edition plus a great-looking white bezel.

In terms of choice, it’s tough for any model to beat the Aishuo A815; overall, this is a decent – if not super-exciting – mid-range tablet definitely worth a look.
