M-Edge Trip Apple iPad 2/3/4 Folio review

The M-Edge Trip folio is essentially a sibling to the Incline Jacket. This folio tablet case for Apple iPad 2 or iPad 3/4 is roughly the same design with different materials and a flashier, more vibrant look. In place again is the brand’s patent-pending “uView Mounting System” - an excellent (if slightly difficult to manipulate) tablet stand case feature.

Upon first seeing the M-Edge Trip folio case, it’s easy to be impressed by simplicity done beautifully. We received the vibrant cobalt blue model with teal-colored elastic strap closure. It looks fantastic! And it comes in four more retro-inspired color designs. The Trip also feels about as good as it looks. The twill fabric exterior, rubberized synthetic leather binding and micro-suede interior offer an all-around pleasant touch. If there is anything to complain about here, it's that the case feels a tad hefty weighing in at 335 grams/11.8 ounces. The inside of the Trip is basically the same as its sibling, the Incline folio. The lone difference being that automatic sleep/wake function is featured on all choice Trip models. Here, the plastic frame is in place to keep the tablet locked down and fully functional. Again, instead of rear-camera cutout, the frame slides up to expose the feature for use. But the plastic frame is most noteworthy for incorporating the brand’s patent-pending “uView Mounting System". M-Edge’s mounting system design does create a bit of hassle in switching from portrait to landscape mode and back. Additionally, the plastic corner clips holding the iPad in place are not exactly confidence-building. Once the iPad is standing, the Trip truly shows its marvelous capacity for displaying the tablet in up to five different angles for typing and viewing modes.

Great colors, top-notch tablet stand and a fair price will make the M-Edge Trip a best case scenario for many iPad users in need of a folio. Just prepare to be patient with that mounting system.
