Ring The Changes: ASUS Upgrades with Eee Pad Transformer Prime

ASUS captured imaginations in early 2011 with its Eee Pad Transformer tablet, a nice device with a convenient dock to allow use of a proper keyboard for data entry. In December, the company updates the popular tablet with release of the Eee Pad Transformer Prime.

The Transformer Prime includes upgrades essentially across the board: The Prime is thinner (0.33”/0.8cm) and lighter (1.29 lb/0.6 kg) than nearly any 10” tablet, and battery life is promised to match the iPad's 12 hours of full use. The operating system is Android 3.2 and can be upgraded.

One problem with the first Eee Pad Transformer, i.e. no micro SD or HDMI ports in the tablet, has been solved in the Transformer Prime. The new model has 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi support, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and GPS connectivity.

The ASUS Eee Transformer Prime launches in December in the U.S. with suggested retail prices starting at $499. The dock accessory will be priced at $149.
