Sony is expected to launch its new tablets right before the IFA 2011 in Berlin that is scheduled for Sep 2-7. That's also when the company will announce the official names for the tablets. Sources say it will be similar to the current S1/S2 acronyms.

Apple has succeeded to halt the launch of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 through a court order in Australia. Furthermore, its demanding that Samsung destroy all their tablets as part of a legal battle over intellectual property. Yesterday in court Apple accused Samsung's galaxy tab of infringing on 10 patents including the general look and feel of the iPad touchscreen.

Cnet is reporting that Apple has begun production of a premium iPad 2 , creating the market for premium tablets. The upgraded model would probably appeal to the publishing vertical and other professional market segments.
