Fierce Competition Results in Tablet Price Drops

Tablets price drops

With more and more tablets entering the already crowded market place, tech giants are reducing prices in order to draw attention to their products.

2012 will see prices falling on Research in Motion’s 64-gigabyte BlackBerry PlayBook tablets by $100 to $299 (which should last until February). Sony Tablet S and Apple iPad 2 are also expected to undergo similar price reductions.

The price changes come for different reasons—some tech players are selling off stock at bargain prices while others, like Apple, are making way for their next generation devices.

In the case of Amazon Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble Nook, the companies are already selling their tablets below cost in a bid to boost content sales through their online and physical stores.
