Booq Apple iPad 2/3/4 Folio review
We’re not exactly sure why the folks at Booq decided to market two different versions of their folio tablet case as one Spartanly-named item. But whether the iPad user opts for the natural fiber or genuine Nappa leather version of this case, the inside remains the same. Aside from the interesting choice of material and colors, what remains in this particular Booq tablet case is a fairly typical iPad accessory done to above-average standard.
Editor's Rating
Beginning with the difference between two distinct models – at least in terms of material – lumped under one name, the Booq Folio. The Nappa leather model is a sharp-looking case that can appeal to business professionals. Meanwhile, the second version is crafted from natural fiber and recalls the cloth covers of old handmade notebooks, which may interest students. Whichever version the iPad user prefers, the specs and qualities remain identical in both versions’ insides. The Booq Folio opens and closes at the right-hand side by way of a magnet lock – and the iPad aficionado will surely note the auto sleep/wake function is taken care of. Naturally, all cutouts are designed with the iPad’s needs in mind. Beyond the noticeably high-quality microfiber lining on the interior, the design is fairly standard among folio-style iPad cases at this point: The inside front cover includes the tri-fold Smart Cover-like notches so that the triangular-shaped base may be formed for viewing in landscape mode and is held together with the opening/closing magnet lock. One worries about repeating folding on the actual look of the Booqpad. After just a few turns with our test model, evidence of wear could be found. Surely that’ll be OK if one doesn’t mind a weathered look for the tablet case, because the component makeup of either model is built to last.
Pros
- Choice of material, colors
- Very good price
Overall: GOOD
The lack of features in this particular Booq case may likely ultimately inspire the iPad owner to seek another, more functional item, such as the Booqpad. Still, the Booq Folio is a decent and durable enough accessory that feels like a best case scenario in gifting a first-time iPad 2-4 tablet owner.
