STM Bags Studio Apple iPad Mini 1/2/3 Folio review

Big league tablet case market player STM Bags has introduced the Studio. This quality folio case is enthusiastically recommended for Apple iPad Mini owners who wish to keep their device really safe at all times during use, storage, and transport. Throw in the 2 stand modes and the auto sleep/wake feature, and you’ve got the perfect balance of function and protection provided at an average price.

While the Studio packs on roughly an extra one-third of the weight of the tablet itself, the combined package is still under half a kilo, or approx. 1 pound. And it’s all well worth it, considering the protection the tablet will receive in return.

The iPad Mini is securely fitted inside a sturdy, hard-plastic inner shell. This backing piece has all precisely-aligned cutouts to keep the device fully functional while encased. Once the fold-over cover is fastened shut, the Studio will protect the entire tablet from accidental drops and other everyday harms.

The wonderfully lengthy magnetic strip inside the cover flap provides a firm stand mode. However the angle is so steep that you may have to set the tablet a good distance away in order to enjoy proper viewing.

When flipped into typing position, the case tends to slide away a bit with each tap of the screen on smooth tabletops. And unfortunately here, the smooth, soft interior micro-suede lining doesn’t provide much traction. Other than this, we have no other objections with STM’s Studio folio case.

The Studio folio is a good case, and on the verge of being great. If only it had a few extra nice perks, including multiple viewing angles. Still, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Studio a best case scenario for any iPad Mini user who requires basic function and reliable protection in a folio case, and is not afraid to shell out an extra fiver or so for premium quality.
