The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 represents a step up from the P1000 Galaxy Tab in size and performance. Whereas the P1000 was designed to appeal to smartphone users, the Galaxy 8.9 is more of a complete tablet PC – much more, in fact.

The first noticeable departure from Samsung’s premiere foray into tablet technology is the implementation of Android 3.0 Honeycomb as operating system. In terms of specs, it’s a bit of a battle between weight and accessories in the Galaxy 8.9. Weighing in at just about one pound (under 0.5 kilos), the Samsung tablet gives up all ports, with only an exclusive dock connector included – though it should be noted that the Apple iPad is similarly designed in these areas and has a slightly lower resolution screen than the Galaxy Tab.

Since so few users seem to be bothered by the lack of ports in the iPad, all any user needs to enjoy the top-quality Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 to its fullness is acceptance of this fact. Once accomplished, the user is sure to enjoy the tablet experience provided by Samsung in this Galaxy model.
