CCase Feather Apple iPad 2/3/4 Folio review

The CCase Feather is a solid entry into the folio tablet case sub-genre of tablet cases. This lightweight design for Apple iPad 2, new iPad 3/4 features a faux-leather lizard-skin exterior and Smart Cover function. A decent folding stand and free stylus pen help make up for a confidence-sapping interior backer and the borderline useless handle feature.

First things first: Yes, the CCase Feather folio case does live up to its trade name. At just 176 grams (6.2 ounces), this model is indeed as light as the proverbial feather. This is an early-discovered big plus for those users looking the carry the encased iPad.

The CCase Feather is crafted from faux-leather done up in lizard-skin style for that tactile bonus. It may be noted that the Feather folio does an outstanding job in resisting messy smudging and smearing: The test model we received at Tablet2Cases was white and even after putting it through some paces still gleamed cleanly days later.

The Feather folio case cover is done up in similar smart cover fashion, which may be folded for an OK typing/viewing stand in landscape modes. The embedded magnet provides automatic on/off function. All cutouts are done perfectly, with a point of emphasis on the speaker channel design that directs clear sound toward the user. A stylus is included in the package, and clips on to either the handle or cover.

A couple of sticking points come up in the backer and carrying handle. While the iPad rests firmly within, the plastic clasps might be a bit worrisome beyond the medium term. The handle at top, though well-stitched and riveted, is clearly not designed with larger fingers in mind.

Good design, solid construction and most of all that low weight make the CCase Feather folio a best case scenario for users who’ll often tote the iPad. Large hands might want to ignore the handle feature, and go straight for the Feather as a simple, convenient folio.
